The team sports are reaching their “Grand Final.” The men’s basketball competition arrives at the semi-final stage with France against Germany and the United States going against Serbia for the second time at these Games (11:30 a.m., 3 p.m. ET) . The men’s football bronze medallists will be decided in the match between Egypt and Morroco (11 a.m. ET) , and the men’s hockey tournament day concludes with the bronze medal match between Spain and India (8 a.m. ET) , and the final (1 p.m. ET) between Germany and Netherlands.
During the track and field event on 8 August, Noah Lyles will compete in the men’s 200m final at 2:30 a.m. ET. He holds the U.S. national record and aims to break Usain Bolt’s world record, as his personal best is just 0.12 seconds shy of Bolt’s mark. Additionally, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is set to compete in the women’s 400m hurdles final at 3:25 a.m. ET after setting a new world record (pending ratification) of 50.65 at the U.S. Trials. She is the clear favorite, but there’s the “Flying Dutch” Femke Bol , who is the only other woman to have run under 51 seconds.
