By now it should be clear that the U.S. women’s gymnastics team is and has been throughout the years the most talented of teams. With that, there have also been a series of nicknames associated with the varying versions of the team across numerous Olympic Games such as 1996′s ‘Magnificent Seven’ or 2016′s ‘Final Five.’ This year in Paris has seen a somewhat edgier approach taken.

Simone Biles has an interesting nickname for Team USA

Coming into the 2024 Olympics in Paris, it would be fair to say that the expectations were high for the women’s gymnastics team of the United States. This, after all, is a team led by arguably the greatest gymnast in the history of the sport, Simone Biles, but she’s not the only athlete on the team with immense talent. Yet, if we’re honest what many fans wanted to know, was what nickname the team would come up with in the manner that past teams have.

So, after clinching the gold medal in the team competition on Tuesday, a feat that also resulted in a new American record Biles, the team took a moment to unveil their new nickname. Speaking with the group, former Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman asked Biles and her teammates what their nickname was at their press conference after making history with their medal.

Following what appeared to be a hushed debate among them full of whispers, Biles took on the role of spokesperson and informed Raisman and all of us watching that they did indeed have a new nickname: “F--- Around And Find Out.” Or, F.A.A.F.O. Truthfully, as tongue in-cheek as the moniker is, it seems to accurately fit the dominance with which the team - especially Biles - has performed in Paris. Needless to say, the smiles on the faces of Biles, Suni Lee, Hezly Rivera, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey were as wide as could be, and if we’re honest, it’s not like they don’t have every right to be happy if even a little cheeky. With a fourth gold medal for the team, a historic step forward for U.S. women’s gymnastics, and a new nickname to boot, there’s plenty of reasons to smile. In closing, we should also say, that we’re fans of the nickname in case that wasn’t already clear.
