The main attraction for Team USA is seven-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky. She is still very dominant in the 800-meter freestyle event and will also be looking to get on the podium in the 1,500-meter freestyle event. For his part, Caeleb Dressel will return after his success in Tokyo, where he won five gold medals. He will be defending his 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly medals.

What time and when do Team USA swimming begin?

The swimming heats for Team USA will take place from July 27 and will run to August 4 with the events starting at 5:00 a.m. / 2:00 a.m PT for the preliminary races. Semifinals and medal races will be starting at 2:30 p.m. ET / 11:30 a.m. PT. On the last day races will start at 12:30 p.m. ET/ 9:30 a.m. PT. Many of the races will take place at proximate times, subject to change.

The Americans are the top favorites to win the medal count when it comes to the swimming events. The last time they failed to do so was back in 1988, when they got bested by East Germany. This time around, the Australians are the ones to beat. They already got one over Team USA after they beat the Americans at the 2023 world championships.
