2022 NHL draft day 1 results: who did the teams pick? Complete list
Day 1 of the NHL Draft is in the books and the Montreal Canadiens selected Juraj Slafkovsky with the first pick. Here are the rest of picks from Round One.
The first round of the NHL Draft has come to a close and the top 32 players in the draft now know what team they will be representing in the first chapter of their NHL careers.
Slafkovsky goes first overall
The Draft is being held at the Bell Center in Montreal, which is fitting considering the Canadiens had the first pick of the night. There was much speculation surrounding the pick, but the host chose forward Juraj Slafkovsky to open the night.
The Slovakian played for TPS of the Finnish Liiga last year, where he scored five goals and had five assists in 31 games. Slafkovsky broke on to the scene in the 2022 Winter Olympics when he scored seven goals in seven games for the Slovakian team.
The Canadiens had two picks, the first and the 26th. They chose Filip Mesar with their second pick of the night.
Senators make noise on Draft Day 1
The Ottowa Senators had the biggest shake up of the night when they traded three draft picks, including their seventh overall pick to the Chicago Black Hawks for Alex DeBrincat.
