The 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic kicks off this weekend at the Detroit Golf Club, with top PGA players vying for the $8.4 million purse and 500 FedExCup points.
The competitors will be playing at the historic Detroit Golf Club which features two signature 18-hole courses designed by renowned architect Donald Ross that have been restored to their original state.
Taking part in the tournament are ten of the top 50 players in the official world golf rankings. They will be among the field of 156 golfers who are taking part in the competition. The highly-ranked players include the following:
Current FedExCup champion Patrick Cantlay leads the field, while Rookie of the Year canidate Cameron Young will be ready for another standout performance after his runner-up finish at The Open.
The players will be competing for a purse of $8.4 million, with the winner receiving $1.5 million.
The Rocket Mortgage Classic takes place at the same time as the controversial Saudi Arabia-financed LIV Golf Invitational event that will be held at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

CBS and Golf Channel will be sharing broadcasting duties for the 2022 PGA Rocket Mortgage Classic. Golf Channel will be responsible for airing the first two rounds and the early portions of the weekend, while CBS will be broadcasting most of the third and final rounds during the weekend.
