2023 British Open: Round 2 Friday tee times, pairings and featured groups

When it comes to major championships, you expect to see a showcase of some of golf’s best. Yet, it’s got to be said the British Open has served up some spectacular groupings across its first two rounds. Let’s take a look at exactly who is teeing off with who.

2023 British Open: The Lay of the Land

If you’ve been paying attention to the action at St. Andrews, then there is no doubt that you saw the sensational pairing that consists of World No. 2 and 3, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm respectively, along with European and former major champion Justin Rose. With McIlroy fresh off of winning the Scottish Open and playing some of his best golf in recent years, there was already going to be attention paid. With Rahm’s inclusion, however, the ante has definitely been upped. The 2023 Masters champion is on the hunt for what would be his third major title and obviously the second of 2023. As for McIlroy, it goes without saying that back-to-back wins would be very pleasing, to say the least.

As for other stars in the field, there’s World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler who will tee up with Tommy Fleetwood, and Adam Scott of Australia who has not won a major in a decade. We’ve also got to mention the defending champion Cameron Smith who will attempt to defend his title while being paired with 2023 US Open champion Wyndham Clark and his playing partner Xander Schauffele, who it has to be said has been in sizzling form of late with several top-five finishes in his last majors.
