TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, serves as the venue for this week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, which marks the initial stage of the PGA Tour’s 2023 FedEx Cup Playoffs. Since 1988, the exclusive TPC Southwind has been the backdrop for a PGA Tour event, initially as the FedEx St. Jude Classic and later as the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

As players strive to ascend the leaderboard, they will also compete for impressive prizes, as TPC Southwind in Memphis offers a total purse of $20 million. The winner claims the lion’s share – an 18% slice amounting to $3.6 million, while even the last-place player secures a substantial $40,000.

Beyond the monetary rewards, the champion gains additional benefits. In addition to the trophy and cash prize, they receive 2000 FedEx Cup points.

Managed by the PGA Tour under the Tournament Players Club network, TPC Southwind consistently ranks among the top 10 most challenging courses on the tour. The 18-hole championship course, crafted by Don Prichard in consultation with Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller, both twice-crowned major champions, extends over 7,200 yards from the back tees.

Regrettably, TPC Southwind belongs to the category of private courses within the Tournament Players Club network. This, however, doesn’t preclude access; it simply comes at a cost.

What’s the price tag for a TPC Southwind membership?

Following the pattern of most private clubs, TPC Southwind presents several membership options: Regular Golf, Young Professional Golf, and Non-Resident. All membership tiers encompass club amenities like swimming, tennis, and fitness facilities. Additionally, becoming a member of Southwind offers access and specific privileges at other TPC properties across the United States, which is a notable perk.

Though the official membership page refrains from disclosing costs, other sources suggest that initiation fees, contingent on the chosen membership level, initiate at approximately $6,000. Additionally, monthly dues typically fall within the range of $500.
