Every golf fan should be ecstatic about the 2023 Grant Thornton Invitational. The mixed team event this weekend at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, FL, is the first co-sanctioned PGA Tour and LPGA Tour event since 1999, making it a landmark event in the golf world. More importantly, though, it should be a fun, competitive, and unique tournament for 32 of the best golfers in the world.

2023 Grant Thornton Invitational: Who’s playing and Friday Round 1 tee times
The team of Nelly Korda and Tony Finau is the favorite to win the Grant Thornton Invitational, followed closely behind by Madelene Sagstrom and Ludvig Aberg, the latter of whom is coming off of his first career PGA Tour win a few weeks ago at the RSM Classic. But with other big names like Rose Zhang (paired with Sahith Theegala), Jason Day (playing with Lydia Ko), and the dynamic duo of Lexi Thompson and Rickie Fowler, it should be a treat for fans: Fowler and Thompson are major fan favorites in their respective Tours.
Fowler’s year has been an eventful one and saw them mount a career comeback, winning the Rocket Mortgage Classic for his first victory since 2019. While Thompson struggled on the course for much of the last LPGA season, she made waves in October when she teed it up in the PGA Tour’s Shriners Children’s Open and nearly made the cut.
Now Fowler and Thompson will join forces to become the first-ever Grant Thornton Invitational champions. The pair tee off on Friday at 10:55 a.m. ET, alongside the team of Nelly Korda and Tony Finau. The opening round will feature a scramble format.
