2023 Masters Tournament: Players, favorites and absences at Augusta National
The 2023 majors get underway with one of the most iconic events in sports as Augusta National hosts the 2023 Masters
As the 2023 golf year moves into its first major event, Augusta National gets ready for the 2023 Masters. With world number one Scottie Scheffler entering as the defending champion, this promises to be a thrilling event.
Scheffler will have a fight on his hands since Spain’s Jon Rahm is the favorite to take the green jacket. With the year that Rahm has had so far it is easy to see why he is tipped to win, he has already taken over $10 million in prize money in just seven tournaments so far.
But Rahm isn’t the only candidate, with Rory McIlroy, Cameron Smith, and Jordan Spieth all sniffing around the edges.
After several years of scrapping between the PGA and LIV Golf, it may be something of a surprise that this year’s Masters extended invitations to eligible LIV Golfers to participate, and there will be eighteen of them teeing off, including Cameron Smith, Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, and Dustin Johnson.
Several big names will be absent from this year’s Masters, with Ian Poulter, Rickie Fowler, Paul Casey, and Lee Westwood not taking part.
Here is a full list of the field and their odds.
