2024 Boston Marathon: street closures and parking restrictions
30,000 runners will take to the streets of Boston as one of the most celebrated marathon’s is set to take place on 15 April.
We’re on the cusp the 128th edition of the Boston Marathon as the clock is ticking down towards the start of the world’s oldest marathon which gets underway next Monday (15 April).
The Boston Marathon is grouped as one of the six most high profile races sharing the billing along with Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York and attracts massive crowds on Patriot’s Day (which is a holiday in the US states of Massachusetts and Maine) with over 30,000 runners looking to complete the 42km/26 mile course.
With over 30,000 runners expected to descend on the city, along with their families, teams and casual spectators, the city will be a hub of energy next Monday with the staging of the race destined to bring elements of traffic disruption.
The City of Boston have requested that runners and fans hoping to watch the race from the course avoid bringing their cars into the city and have urged that public transport be used.

A significant amount of parking restrictions will also be in place across the weekend and through into Monday with both the 2024 Boston Marathon and later in the day, the Patriot’s Parade taking place.
