Update:

Cameron Young is the early leader of the 2024 Hero World Challenge at the Albany Golf Club in The Bahamas after an eight-under par 64 in his opening round on Thursday.

A bogey-free round included five birdies on the front nine and three more on the way home, giving Young a two-shot lead over Justin Thomas, chasing his first victory since the 2022 PGA Championship.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Ludvig Aberg and Patrick Cantlay, the top three ranked players in the 20-man field, are a stroke further back on -5. 2015 PGA champion Jason Day props up the leaderboard after starting with a three-over par 75.

2024 Hero World Challenge day 2 - tee times and pairings

Why isn’t Tiger Woods playing in the Hero World Challenge?

Tiger Woods, who is hosting the Hero World Challenge, isn’t playing in the event, claiming he isn’t ”tournament sharp".

The 48-year-old won the tournament five times between 2001 and 2011 when it was played at Sherwood Country Club in California.

2024 Hero World Challenge prize money

The winner at Albany Gold Course will take home $1 million, with $450,000 going to the runner-up. As the tournament isn’t an official PGA Tour event, the money won’t count towards any money lists, although there are world ranking points on offer.
