Scottie Scheffler picked up a check for $3.6 million for winning the 2024 Masters. That’s in part thanks to the increased purse this year as the PGA look to make their competitions that bit more attractive to lure the top golfers and in parallel as a bid to compete with LIV Golf. In general the PGA are increasing the prize money across their high profile events, with the 2024 Masters being a case in point.

The increased purse (from 2023′s 18 to the current 20 million dollars) means the PGA event is now equal to the total purses offered at LIV Golf events (those are $25 million, but $20 million for the individual portion), and the PGA Tour’s Signature Events, which have increased to $20 million.

Going into the final round, Scottie Scheffler held a one-shot lead, and he stormed away on Sunday’s final round to claim a second Masters title. Scheffler is the 18th player to win the Masters multiple times and the first to accomplish the feat since Bubba Watson in 2014.

Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg, Max Hola and Bryson DeChambeau were expected to push Scheffler , but failed to love up to expectations as Scheffler moved comfortably from -7 overnight to a final score of -11. Aberg was second, moving from -4 overnight to -7 at the end. The pair were both at -6 on the 7th, but Scheffler raced way from then on. Tiger Woods, as expected, didn’t trouble the leaders after a disappointing 10-over-par 82, his worst major round as a professional.
