The San Jose Sharks will have the first pick in the NHL Draft, which takes place over two days at the Sphere in Paradise, Nevada.
No sooner have the Florida Panthers lifted the Stanley Cup for the first time in the franchise’s history, than thoughts already begin to turn to the 2024-25 NHL season. The 2024 NHL Draft will take place at the Sphere in Paradise, Nevada on 28 and 29 June, starting only four days after the end of the previous campaign’s Stanley Cup Finals.
The San Jose Sharks hold the coveted overall first pick and have also obtained the Pittsburgh Penguins’ first-round selection (no. 11).
All in all, there will be 225 picks across seven rounds.
What time does the 2024 NHL Draft start?
The 2024 NHL Draft will be held over two days, with the first round taking place on Friday 28 June, starting at 7:00 p.m. ET. Rounds two to seven will follow on Saturday 29 June, getting underway at 11:30 a.m. ET.

The first round of the 2024 NHL Draft will be televised on ESPN and available to stream on ESPN+ on Friday 28 June.

When does the 2024/25 NHL season start?
After the 2024 NHL Draft is completed, we will have to wait more than three months to see the league’s new-look rosters in action. The 2024-25 NHL season will begin on 4 October 2024 and will end with the Stanley Cup Finals in June 2025, although the exact date has yet to be confirmed.
