2024 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass Round 2 Friday tee times and pairings
Rory McIlroy quickly unleashed three birdies on holes 10, 11, and 12 during his first-round outing here at the PGA headquarters in Florida.
McIlroy’s stunning performance at the championship left spectators awestruck. He made an incredible start by birdieing his first eight holes, leading fans to wonder if he could complete the front nine in 29 shots or perhaps even do better with an opening round of 30.
McIlroy impressed with his flawless execution and adept use of the driver, leaving onlookers in awe. Despite occasional deviations from his shot selection, his ability to adapt and adjust showcased his game mastery. Reflecting on his outstanding performance, McIlroy expressed satisfaction, acknowledging it as one of his best rounds in recent memory. His approach play reminisced his victorious outing at the 2022 Canadian Open.
Despite facing a few setbacks, including a bogey on the 18th hole due to an errant tee shot that found the water, McIlroy showed great resilience by bouncing back with birdies on the second, fourth, and sixth holes. At the end of his marvelous opening round at the Players Championship, he was tied for the lead with the equally impressive Wyndham Clark and Xander Schauffele, all with scores under 7.
