Alcaraz’s father on split with Ferrero: “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion based on what they know”
Carlos Alcaraz González, the father of the world No. 1, spoke to EFE but declined to go into detail about the decision not to renew Juan Carlos Ferrero’s contract after seven years working together.

Carlos Alcaraz González, the father of Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, told the news agency EFE that ‘everyone is entitled to their own opinion based on what they know’ when asked about the split with Juan Carlos Ferrero, who coached his son for the past seven years, since the current world number 1 was 15.
Carlos Alcaraz’s father stays silent on reasons for rupture
The most influential figure in the career of the current ATP leader, now 22 and a multiple Grand Slam champion, did not disclose the reasons behind the decision not to extend Ferrero’s deal. Ferrero was recently named ATP Coach of the Year.
Ferrero “sad” over break up
Alcaraz’s father’s comments came after Ferrero gave an interview on Wednesday to Spanish newspaper El País, in which he addressed the breakup, saying he did not feel “hurt” but rather “sad,” adding that “the overriding feeling is sadness.” He noted that the aftermath of the split “is a shame because the relationship was very long and very successful in terms of results.”
Ferrero also revealed that during contract talks “there were attempts to change certain clauses, which are private, and I didn’t agree with them. They have their interests and I have mine, and we couldn’t reach an agreement.”
