The bracket has officially been set for Wimbledon amid storylines that will affect how the competition will turn out.

Russia and Belarus out

First up, the tournament has banned athletes from Russia and Belarus from participating, and because of this decision, top players including men’s world number one Daniil Medvedev and women’s world number six Aryna Sabalenka will not be in the running.

In response to the ban, the ATP and the WTA have announced that no ranking points will be awarded to those who are joining Wimbledon this year.

All eyes on Serena

Aside from these controversial developments, there are highly anticipated performances at the All-England Club. Serena Williams will be making a much-awaited comeback to the majors after a year’s absence, while Rafa Nadal is aiming to continue his campaign to clinch a calendar Grand Slam after winning the two previous events in Australia and France.

Novak Djokovic, who has spoken out against the ban on Russian and Belarusian players, is the top seed in the tournament and the heavy favorite to win in men’s singles. The six-time Wimbledon champion is given odds of -125 at Caesars Sportsbook and -150 at Tipico Sportsbook.

Nadal is the second seed, but oddsmakers put him at third (+650 at Caesars, +600 at Tipico) behind last year’s Championships runner-up and eighth-seeded Matteo Berrettini (+550 at Caesars, +480 at Tipico).

Iga Swiatek’s hot streak

On the side of the women, world number one Iga Swiatek is given the best odds of winning (+135 at Caesars, +125 at Tipico), even though she does not have a single Wimbledon title under her belt. She is, after all, riding on a hot 35-game winning streak.

Serena Williams, although currently ranked 1,204th in the world, has been given the sixth-highest odds of winning by Caesars Sportsbook (+1600) and odds of +1500 by Tipico.
