Bjorn Borg believes Carlos Alcaraz will be No. 1 “for many years”

Tennis living legend Bjorn Borg is impressed by Alcaraz’s game and believes the Spaniard will dominate the ATP ranking for a long time.

He won his first major at the age of 19 and now that he turned 20 he’s close to winning his fourth ATP 1000 tournament.

Carlos Alcaraz has become the main attraction everywhere he goes thanks to his impressive skillset on the tennis courts and his humility and charisma outside of them.

Carlitos has already won three titles this year, which could be four if he successfully defends his title in the Madrid Open and defeats Jan-Lennard Struff in the final on Sunday.

The Murcia native will overtake Novak Djokovic for the world No. 1 spot again if he lifts the title in Madrid and decides to compete in Rome next week.

The No. 1 will have an owner for many years

Tennis legend Bjorn Borg is no stranger to Alcaraz’s talent and spoke about his potential after he beat Borna Coric in the semifinals.

“After this week he’s going to be No. 1 in the world, and I think he’s going to be staying there for many years”, Borg said.

“The way he plays, the way he moves, I like the whole game. No weaknesses”, he added.

The 11-time Grand Slam tournament winner is aware that Struff is probably playing the best tennis of his career, but sees Alcaraz as the big favorite to win the final:

“This was a semifinal today, I think he has a good chance to win the final. But to watch this guy play is unbelievable, I’m very impressed.”

Alcaraz is considered, by many, the main favorite to win the Roland Garros title due to Rafa Nadal’s lack of competition rhythm since the Australian Open due to his injury, while Djokovic, also injured, missed the Madrid Open.
