Canelo Alvarez sets a date for his retirement from boxing: “when you look back at 20 years as a professional boxer, it’s a long road”
The Mexican fighter is planning ahead and feels that he has three more years to offer at the top level of the sport.

Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez will be in action next in Saudi Arabia after the Mexican recently sealed a multi-million dollar deal with Sheikh Turki Alalshikh to fight four times over the next two years, with three bouts taking place in Saudi Arabia.
This initiative sees the Guadalajara native move from his traditional Las Vegas base with the first of fights to take place early next month in Riyadh against William Scull.
The Mexican fighter will turn 35 next July and will celebrate his twentieth year in the sport next October as a pro boxer.
As time moves on, Alvarez isn’t planning on immediate retirement but is aware that the day is looming when he will have to hang up the gloves.
Speaking to boxing portal The Ring recently, the Mexican stated: “I feel like I’m in my prime,” if you put me in a fight with 28, 27 or even the 26-year-old Canelo Alvarez, I would beat him. So, I feel great.”
However, the Mexican did acknowledge that time is catching up on him adding: “I’m gonna do these four fights and we’ll see what happens after that,” Alvarez said. “I always said like 37 is what I think [as a retirement age], but we don’t know yet.”

On leaving the sport, “I don’t think about it much, “I’m just doing it. I still love boxing. And when you look back on 20 years as a professional fighter, it’s a long way.”
