The Doha final drew plenty of attention—and not just because Carlos Alcaraz lifted the trophy. What stunned fans was how quickly he got the job done.

The Spaniard needed only 50 minutes to defeat Arthur Fils and claim his first career title at the Qatar Open. That makes it the shortest ATP 500 final ever played (excluding retirements) since the series began in 2009.

Alcaraz makes short work of Doha final

Across the entire ATP Tour, Sunday’s showdown now ranks as the 12th-fastest final on record. The top spot still belongs to the 1991 Manchester final—the very season the ATP Tour was created—when Goran Ivanišević beat Pete Sampras 6–4, 6–4 in just 44 minutes.

Doha also marks the fastest completed win of Alcaraz’s career. His previous best came in Beijing in 2024, when he defeated Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor 6–1, 6–2 in 56 minutes during the round of 16.
