David Benavidez confident he can knock out Caleb Plant

WBC interim super middleweight champion David Benavidez is confident that he has trained hard enough to knock out Caleb Plant in their fight on March 25.

Update:
WBC interim super middleweight champion David Benavidez is confident that he has trained hard enough to knock out Caleb Plant in their fight on March 25.

WBC interim super middleweight champion David Benavidez will face Caleb Plant at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on March 25, for the first defense of his title. La Bandera Roja has talked about how he wants to end the fight.

In an interview with BoxingScene.com, Benavidez was asked about the number of rounds he planned to fight against Plant and the boxer of Mexican descent stated that he did not want to go the distance.

Benavidez wants a KO win

“I would be very disappointed in myself,” Benavidez said. “The only way I want to win this fight is to knock him out or stop him with a technical knockout.”

Of Benavidez's 26 bouts, 23 have been won via knockout. The last time he did not win that way was on February 17, 2018, when he defeated Ronald Gavrill by unanimous decision to defend his super middleweight title.

“I never like to leave things to the judges,” said the Phoenix native.

“As you can see, I have 26 fights with 23 knockouts, so we’re not thinking about letting this fight go to the scorecards. So, you know, we’re ready to do what we’ve gotta do to knock Caleb Plant out.”

“That’s the only way I wanna see that fight going. I’m very confident because, like I said, I’ve been working extremely hard. I have not left any stone unturned. This is the hardest I’ve worked in a long, long time. And I’m just very excited,” said the 26-year-old.

“I feel like the stars and everything’s lined up in my favor. I’m just ready to show the world what I got.”

Benavidez vs. Plant will take place on Saturday, March 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight will be a Showtime pay-per-view event.
