Djokovic: “It’s a huge desire of mine”

The Serb, who’s in Malaga playing with Serbia in the Davis Cup finals, revealed what his priorities are ahead of 2024.

He won the Australian Open, Roland Garros, the US Open, the ATP Finals, and was a finalist in Wimbledon in 2023, but he wants to complete the Grand Slam and keep breaking records next year.

Novak Djokovic is hungry and wants to make the most of it while he’s competing at the top level in the ATP Tour.

Despite being considered by many as the greatest tennis player to have ever lived, the world No. 1 recently admitted he’s not thinking about retiring, unless Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Holger Rune start getting the better of him in the main tournaments.

He could magnificently close the year, winning the Davis Cup for Serbia again, which would close one of Djokovic’s best years in his brilliant career.

Djokovic reveals his main goal in 2024

For someone as successful as Nole, it’s hard to imagine what can keep pushing him to try to be the best the whole season. However, the 36-year-old is aware that he won’t be competing for many more years and he wants to win as much as he can while he’s still active.

However, the 24-time major winner is aware that he could overtake Margaret Court as the tennis player with the most Grand Slam tournaments won and will probably try to beat Jimmy Connors’ record of most ATP events won ever.

Those are incredible challenges, but those are not Djokovic’s main concern right now. His main goal is to win the gold medal in the singles tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Djokovic knows that it only takes place once in four years, so this will probably be the last time tennis fans will enjoy seeing him play in such a special scenario.

He won the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing but didn’t manage to be crowned the champion in the following editions.

“Of course, the Olympics are a huge desire of mine – it’s a unique opportunity, I have a bronze from Beijing 2008″, he said after winning the ATP Finals.

“A lot of things are different at the Olympics – you can’t bring your whole team, some of the routines you usually have are limited; there are a lot of athletes from other sports, which gives you the energy on one hand, but it drains you on the other”, he added.

After being defeated by Andy Murray in 2012, Juan Martin del Potro in 2016, and Alexander Zverev in 2021, Djokovic will try to finally clinch the gold medal and accomplish one of his most desired goals.
