After recovering from a hand injury sustained in his September 2018 victory over Gennady Golovkin, Saul Alvarez will fight the Brit John Ryder on Cinco de Mayo. Canelo’s next bout will be something more than routine. For the first time in almost a decade, he’ll be fighting in his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico.
To further demonstrate that he is not in decline and can still fight the likes of Dmitry Bivol and David Benavidez, he will be willing to put his super middleweight belts, including the Ring Magazine belt, on the line.

Canelo is a big favorite to defeat Ryder on Saturday at Akron Stadium, but he is not taking his British opponent lightly.
How much money will Canelo Alvarez earn for his fight against John Ryder?
According to Sports Payout, Canelo will earn around $15 million for this fight. This was a severe pay cut from his $45 million when he fought Gennady Golovkin.
In addition, Ryder will be banking $2 million on this fight. For the Brit, this will be a career-high payday.
