How much prize money does the winner get at the 2023 Barbasol Championship?
The Barbasol Championship is the final PGA Tour before the British Open next week. A hefty paycheck and 300 FedEx Points awaiting the winner in Kentucky.
The clock is ticking for those looking to make it inside the Top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings hoping to secure a birth before the regular season ends in November. This week Kentucky plays host to the PGA Tour and the Barbasol Championship as golfers look to make their move up the standings while eyeing a pretty pay day for the winner at the end of the weekend.
Can Mullinax repeat?
Trey Mullinax took the title last year, holding off Kevin Streelman with a final round 66 finishing the weekend -25, just a stroke ahead of the second placed Streelman. With the the British Open looming, many of the Tour’s stars will have already made the trip, or are planning to make the trip to England to prepare for the final major of the golf season.
Both Mullinax and Streelman will be looking to be in contention on Sunday at Keene Trace Golf Course, but in recent years the tournament has been won by first time winners on the tour. Who ever is going to win this tournament is going to have to go low from everything we have seen in the last few years. There hasn’t been a winner that shot less than -21 in the last half decade, so everything is setting up for a shootout in from just outside of Lexington, Kentucky.
Last year Mullinax took home $660,000 for topping the rest of the field after his six under final round. This year the champion will take home $684,000 which is 18% of the $3.8 million purse.
