JOSEF NEWGARDEN WINS INDY 500!!
After red flag and red flag, Josef Newgarden wins the Indy 500!!! An amazing maneuver against Ericsson who had the lead in the last lap. What an amazing last lap. The American over took the Swede at a turn and on the stretch kept the lead. This was a crazy race where all that could happened did happen.
This is what Indy 500 is all about and we love to see it. We are happy no one got injured from those crashes and hope that next year’s race is as exciting as this one.

Pat’s tire and the crash
Let’s take a close look at what happened as the race started and the Mexican lost the lead to the Swede. That’s why many racers don’t want the lead when a red flag comes up!

This has to be annoying for the guys at the front. Because someone on the 13th place can mess things up for you.

As the caution flag waved, the pit lane became a hive of activity as Hunter-Reay, Ilott, and Canapino made their way in for a quick stop. This left O'Ward, Ericsson, Newgarden, Rossi, and Ferrucci as the top five drivers still out on the track, battling it out for the lead.
Here we go again after the crash ! 13 laps to go
While Kyle Kirkwood's flip certainly caught everyone's attention, it was the tire flying out of the track that had everyone in the media center on edge. The fact that Kirkwood remained conscious throughout the incident and the effectiveness of the aeroscreen in ensuring safety is truly remarkable and inspiring.
How nothing bad really happened is crazy!
Ho that tire didn’t fly and injured anyone is crazy. Something to think about for next year.
Red Flag as scary crash took place
According to the NBC broadcast, both Rosenqvist and Kirkwood are doing well. Kirkwood's car flipped over in a terrifying collision caused by a lost tire.
Rosenqvist race is over!!!!!
A heart-stopping moment occurred during the race! Rosenqvist spun out of control, causing Kyle Kirkwood to collide with him. The impact was so intense that Kirkwood's car flipped over and crashed against the wall, sending a tire flying over the fence. The race just got even more intense with a caution flag waving as there are only 16 laps left!
Pat O’Ward goes for the win!
The Mexican passes three people at the last moment to take the lead!!! What a race this is shaping out to be!
Ferrucci hit with a warning
Ferucci managed to avoid a drive-through penalty, but still received a warning and a fine. Amidst the intense competition between Ericsson and Rosenqvist, a mere drive through could have spelled disaster for his chances of clinching victory.
Caution as Grosjean turns at 2
The excitement is palpable as we approach the final stretch of the race, with only 50 laps left to go. The defending champion, Marcus Ericsson, is currently in the lead, making for a thrilling competition. The race is heating up with Josef Newgarden in a close second, while the McLaren teammates Felix Rosenqvist, Alexander Rossi, and Pato O'Ward are hot on his tail.
The leaderboard keeps changing!
Ericsson and Newgarden have joined the leaders Rosenqvist and O'Ward in the race. As of lap 141, O'Ward has dropped to sixth place and is now trailing behind Rossi and Ferrucci.
Collision on the pits
Teammates collide on pit road as Colton's car spins out of control! A dramatic incident occurred on the pit road as Herta's car collided with Romain Grosjean's vehicle while trying to exit. Seems like a minor setback, but it's definitely going to put a dent in his plans.
Race almost over for Veekay and Palou
Rinus VeeKay and Alex Palou's positions have been impacted after a pit road incident, with VeeKay now in P28 due to a drive-through penalty and Palou in P17. Although Palou's car wasn't completely wrecked, the damage he sustained during the race definitely set him back in terms of track position. It's safe to say that VeeKay's race took an unexpected turn, and unfortunately, he played a major role in his own downfall.
The rookie cannot finish the race
Sting Ray Rob had to leave after this crash and the rookie is out of there!
Things getting exciting
Exciting news! Newgarden and Ericsson are making impressive strides up the leaderboard, now sitting comfortably in fourth and fifth place.

For the pit road collision with Palou, VeeKay was assessed a drive through fine.

In a heart-stopping moment, VeeKay lost control and spun out while exiting pit road, colliding with Palou and sending their cars careening into the wall. VeeKay's team may face a penalty soon.
Caution at Indy!
Exciting news! Lap 92 saw the first caution of the race due to an incident involving Sting Ray Robb.

The top keeps changing !
Ferrucci is making an impressive climb up the leaderboard, overtaking VeeKay and securing the third position. As the race reaches its 83rd lap, the initial frontrunners Palou and VeeKay have lost their early grip on the lead, but are still holding strong within the top five.
Katherine Legge Indy’s hopes are done!
Katherine Legge's race seems to have hit a roadblock as her team tried to fix the issue on pit road. Despite her high hopes, her comeback to the Indy 500 didn't quite go as expected, and she's currently in last place.
All three at the top caught up!
Rosenqvist ultimately pits with the lead on lap 67, becoming the last of the top three racers to do so. He comes out of the pit stop ahead of both VeeKay and Palou to seize the lead in the race.
Palou holds the number one spot!
With a commanding start from the pole position, the Spaniard has maintained an impressive lead throughout the race, having led for a total of 26 laps. The rain has been pouring down without any interruption so far. Rinus VeeKay is putting up a strong fight as he holds onto the second position, having led an impressive 21 laps so far.

Witness Josef Newgarden's impressive racing skills as he defies the odds, starting from the 17th position and climbing his way up to the ninth spot. He even outpaced seasoned drivers such as Takuma Sato (10th) and Tony Kanaan (11th).
Legge with difficult incident
As she exited her pit stall, she spun her tires and almost collided with the inside wall, posing a potential threat to a safety worker. Legge had a difficult week due to the incident with Stefan Wilson that resulted in a broken back and hospitalization.
Rossi falls to 5th
After that pit stop Palou retakes the lead and Rossi drops to 5th after he lost some time there on that pit!

VeeKay and Palou have made their green flag pit stops, allowing Rossi to take the lead. O'Ward and Power are currently in second and third place, respectively.
Dixon to the pit!
Dixon has had to retreat to pit road due to issues with his front left tire. He's pitting on lap 26!
Dixon has car issues !
Scott Dixon's car is currently experiencing handling issues, causing him to drop down to 11th place in the race. Dixon was the top performer in this race last year, but he could not secure the victory due to a pit road speeding penalty. It was anticipated that he would also be one of the top competitors today.
Reserve mode on!
During the first 16 laps of the race, VeeKay and Palou exchanged the lead twice, with Palou being in the lead for the majority of the time. There is only one driver, Felix Rosenqvist, who is within a second of the lead.

Palou regained the lead from VeeKay at the beginning of the fifth lap in a short amount of time. During the start of the race, Scott Dixon moved up from sixth to fourth place while Will Power climbed up from 12th to ninth place.

The Indy 500 race begins with the drivers on the front row starting in a three-by-three formation. These drivers must carefully plan how to begin the race without causing any accidents or incidents. It is not advisable to risk crashing on the first lap of a 500-mile race in an attempt to gain only one position.
The starting positions for the upcoming race are as follows: Alex Palou will be starting on the inside, Rinus VeeKay will be in the middle, and Felix Rosenqvist will be on the outside.
