Joshua or Wilder? Shakur Stevenson picks the winner

The 26-year-old superstar in the making Stevenson talked about the potential super heavyweight clash between AJ and Deontay Wilder.

In a year full of super fights, there’s one that would attract the majority of the attention if it finally happens.

There have been many talks of a potential fight between toormer heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder at the end of 2023, with the winner of them earning the chance to fight either Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk for a title shot.

However, while it seems they still could meet inside the ring sometime in December, there hasn’t been any official announcement about it.

Joshua defeated Robert Helenius almost two weeks ago in London with a devastating right that sent his opponent to the canvas to register a KO win.

Stevenson says Wilder KO’s Joshua

Before that, AJ won a hard-fought points decision vs. the massive underdog Jermaine Franklin and lost two consecutive bouts to Oleksandr Usyk, besides not looking convincing in his rematch victory over Andy Ruiz Jr.

Boxing rising star Shakur Stevenson feels that the former two-time heavyweight champion looks “lost” right now, trying to change trainers in order to come back to his old version.

Wilder by knockout. I like Joshua, but he seems lost right now, changing trainers. He seems like he’s looking for somebody to help his career, and I feel like he probably should be the one helping his own career” he said to to 2ndWindPod.

“Yeah, Wilder, he punches so hard. Imagine street fighting him. Wilder is a beast, man”, Stevenson added.

Stevenson is one of quite a few voices suggesting that Wilder would take Joshua out if both men end up meeting inside the ring. The Bronze Bomber last fought in October, when he knocked Helenius out in the first round.
