Update:

As the second round of the Masters got underway on Friday, millions of fans tuned in to follow the action on TV. Many of them were keen to watch LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau, who teed off at 10:15 a.m. alongside Hideki Matsuyama and Shane Lowry.

However, ESPN’s coverage didn’t start until 3 p.m. and while the morning action was streamed live on Masters.com and via the Masters app, DeChambeau, Matsuyama and Lowry were not one of the ‘featured groups’, meaning that viewers were left with limited options - either watch a clip of each shot online or wait until the highlights had been uploaded.

DeChambeau fan Lil Wayne left cursing

Lil Wayne was one of many DeChambeau fans who had tuned in especially and wasn’t impressed by the decision not to show him. “The Masters blew it with this lack of coverage on Bryson!!! They gotta stop hatin on the LIV s***. This man is killin it out there and I can’t watch” he wrote on social media.

His post received 27,000 likes and was re-posted 2,400 times. “Amen!” one user responded; another commented: “Almost like they are pretty openly avoiding coverage for a LIV player… this is why their sport doesn’t do the numbers it should. Bryson is a young, tantalizing player that the majority of golf fans love. The PGA tour is an outdated clown show".

Television coverage at the Masters has always been selective - especially during the morning action, which focuses on featured groups and select holes until the main broadcast gets underway in the early afternoon.

Despite being snubbed by the TV cameras, DeChambeau finished the day with a 68, leaving him one shot behind leader Justin Rose, which means he should get plenty of coverage over the next couple of days.
