Malik Scott: “Wilder vs Joshua, ‘almost’ signed”

Good news for boxing fans. One of the best and most attractive fights this year seems close to being a reality.

After seeing how the negotiations for a potential Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury clash for heavyweight supremacy didn’t translate into an agreement, the boxing community is now hoping that Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua collide in Saudi Arabia in December.

Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott said that the fight between the two former champions is “almost” finalized.

“Without going into too much detail about the business aspect of it, everything’s been said, talked about, negotiated, but nothing’s been signed”, Scott said in an interview with Betway.

“But signing is almost upon us. The negotiations definitely are happening. The moves are being made. The business aspect is being taken care of”, he added.

Fury vs Usyk, the same night

It’s certainly a good year for boxing, as fans have been able to watch some good fights between top boxers so far and will keep enjoying great matchups, like the Devin Haney vs Vassiliy Lomachenko one for the undisputed lightweight crown this Saturday.

However, things could get even better. As it was recently rumored, negotiations for a four-main tournament are being held, and the other two names that would fight the very same night are none other than Fury and Usyk, who would sit and try to negotiate again.

“I can confirm that the aim is to make both fights in one night”, Scott stated.

Scott, though, was realistic about the chances of that fight happening.

“But the only fight that I know for sure if there’s a strong possibility of it happening and is being negotiated is Deontay and AJ”, he expressed.

It would certainly be one of the greatest nights in recent times and probably also in boxing history if that Final Four tournament ended up happening, especially with those mega bouts taking place the very same night.

While the fight between The Cat and The Gipsy King is still far from happening, Scott didn’t bite his tongue when offering a prediction between his pupil and Joshua, saying the American would knock AJ out in three or four rounds.
