More than a decade after their historic 2015 bout, Pacquiao has addressed the possibility of a rematch that could stream on Netflix.

The boxing world woke up Wednesday to news that could bring two of the 21st century’s greatest fighters back into the ring: American Floyd Mayweather (50-0) and Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao (62-8-3).

According to The Sun, Pacquiao, 46, is in talks with 48-year-old Mayweather about a second fight, potentially to be streamed on Netflix for a purse yet to be determined.

The money behind the original “Fight of the Century”

This would come more than 10 years after their first “Fight of the Century,” which electrified the sports world on May 2, 2015, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather won by unanimous decision, claiming the WBC and WBO welterweight titles, with the fighters splitting a staggering $300 million purse - $180 million to Mayweather and $120 million to Pacquiao.

Pacquiao confirmed his interest in a rematch to Sun Sport. “As long as Floyd returns, I’m still active in boxing, so a rematch is possible. Conversations are happening, and I’m happy to start talking about facing Mayweather again. It’s a good opportunity because I’m still active, and all he needs to do is come back for it to happen,” he said.

Both fighters have stayed active since 2015

Since that Las Vegas showdown, both have stepped back into the ring. Mayweather defeated André Berto by unanimous decision and scored a technical knockout over Conor McGregor in 2017, cementing his historic 50-0 record.

Pacquiao beat Timothy Bradley Jr. and Jessie Vargas in 2016 before losing to Jeff Horn in 2017. He then scored wins over Lucas Matthysse, Adrien Broner, and Keith Thurman, before falling to Yordenis Ugas in 2021 and returning this past July against Mario Barrios in a draw.

With both fighters still active, a second “Fight of the Century” is edging closer to reality.
