Mastercard partners with SIGA for 2022 Sport Integrity Week

Female Leadership in Sport Flag flies high during Sport Integrity Week 2022

Update:
Female Leadership in Sport Flag flies high during Sport Integrity Week 2022

The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) is delighted to announce Mastercard as the latest organisation to partner with the Sport Integrity Week 2022, taking place in Cascais, Portugal, from 12 to 16 September.

As a Founding Member of SIGA and a partner of several initiatives of the SIGAWomen Programme, aimed at promoting female leadership in sport, Mastercard is sponsoring the SIGAWoW – Women on Wednesdays - Sunset Lounge. This space will act as a place of confluence during #SIW2022 for a growing number of women and male champions focused on promoting gender equity in the boardroom of sports organisations as part of good governance.

Consisting of interactive interviews, dynamic panel sessions and premium networking, the SIGA WoW Lounge will be one of the highlights of #SIW2022 and will complete the activities taking place on the third day of the Week’s activities, on Wednesday, 13 September.  Earlier that day, there will be a high level panel session dedicated to this topic, including high profile speakers from World Rugby, NWSL, Under Armour, Yale,  and the European Commission.

After hosting in New York SIGA’s Summit on Female Leadership in Sport, in March 2022, Mastercard is now reinforcing its positioning in this space by joining the Municipality of Cascais and the ‘business improvement and standards company, BSI’, also known as British Standards Institution, as a strategic partner of SIGA’s flagship thought leadership event that will bring together leading experts in various areas associated with integrity in sport.

Katie Simmonds, Global Chief Operating Officer, SIGA and Managing Director #SIGAWomen, highlighted Mastercard’s commitment to SIGA’s goals in the area of gender equity:

Mastercard has championed the SIGAWomen agenda since the very beginning, participating in our Global Mentorship Programme and, more recently, hosting the SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport. Creating pathways for meaningful change in the sports industry is possible if we unite efforts and  global brands, such as Mastercard, that have diversity and inclusion at their core, play their role in this effort. This is undoubtedly an exciting and dynamic time for women’s sport, and female leadership in the board room is equally as important. We look forward to seeing our growing community of SIGAWomen in the WoW Lounge to celebrate the trailblazers in our industry and create legacies for the next generation. Bring it on!

Alison Giordano, Vice President, Global Sponsorships and Consumer Marketing, Mastercard, elected Vice Chair of the SIGA Council representing Mastercard, said:

Mastercard’s core values of having diversity and inclusion engrained in our corporate governance extends to the sports properties we partner with. We have supported SIGA’s mission for Sport Integrity worldwide from the very start and are passionate about promoting female leadership in Sport. That is why we are proud to partner with SIGA during the 2022 Sport Integrity Week and look forward to an impactful and purpose-driven SIGA WoW Sunset Lounge!”
