Nick Kyrgios delivers bold message about PTPA lawsuit: “I think things need to change. It’s a big day for tennis”
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios was one of 12 players along with the PTPA to bring a lawsuit against the governing bodies of tennis.

The Professional Tennis Player’s Association (PTPA) was formed by Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil in 2020 in order to have a group which advocates for the players.
Recently, the PTPA filed a lawsuit against tennis' governing bodies, including the men’s and women’s tours, the International Tennis Federation, and the International Tennis Integrity Agency. The lawsuit claims that they were indulging in anti-competitive practices as well as disregarding player welfare.
Nick Kyrgios calls PTPA lawsuit a “special moment”
Along with the PTPA, Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios was one of 12 current and former players listed as plaintiffs in the lawsuit. He called it a “special moment” for the players.
“I know that myself and many of the players aren’t happy with the structures and everything that’s going on in tennis at the moment,” Kyrgios said. “This will be a special moment in tennis, for sure. Things needed to change. It’s a big day for tennis.”

The ATP rejected the claims that they have an unfair system that exploits players and suppresses their earnings and called the PTPA guilty of “division and distraction”.
“The ATP just had so much power, they don’t have to show anything to anyone,” said Kyrgios. “Now things will have to change, they’ll have to show things, how things operate and that’s when people really realize that it hasn’t really been done correctly."
“I don’t think players ultimately have been very happy with what they earn on the tour compared to other sports and I think that’s definitely one of the main reasons.”
