Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez vs Terence Crawford faces date and venue change

Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez is getting ready to return to the ring after unifying the super middleweight titles with a win over Cuba’s William Scull. His next opponent is Terence Crawford – a blockbuster clash – but both the date and venue are in flux.

When is rearranged Canelo vs Crawford?

Originally scheduled for Friday, September 12, the fight has now been pushed back by one day to Saturday, September 13. The bout was initially set to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, but the venue is also changing.

Ring Magazine, which was acquired last year by Turki Alalshikh – head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority – confirmed both changes.

The fight will also mark the first event promoted by TKO Boxing, the new venture from Alalshikh and UFC president Dana White.

The scheduling change was made to avoid a clash with college football. A final decision on the venue is still pending, with five potential locations under consideration across New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

“The Riyadh Season event could be held at one of five possible venues in New York, Los Angeles or Las Vegas,” Ring Magazine reported.
