Scheffler leads, McIlroy history, seven newcomers: full list of the 30 players for the 2025 Tour Championship
The Tour Championship field is set, with golf’s top names, and some surprise debutants, heading to East Lake for a $10 million prize.

I rather enjoy this week in golf. The majors can be thrilling, yes, and the Ryder Cup (with the 2025 teams taking shape) is clearly something special, but the Tour Championship has a different electricity. The top rated players, one course, level footing. No strokes advantage this year. It’s simply about who plays the best four rounds in Atlanta, and I like that.
Here’s the lowdown:
- 30 players have qualified for the 2025 Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club
- Scottie Scheffler leads the field after his fifth win of the season
- Rory McIlroy seeks an unprecedented fourth FedExCup title
- Seven debutants will play the Tour Championship for the first time
- Harry Hall was the only player to jump into the top 30 after the BMW Championship
Who are the favorites for the 2025 Tour Championship?
Scottie Scheffler headlines after winning the BMW Championship, his fifth title in a season that already included two majors. He’s the first since Tiger Woods (2006–07) to win five or more times in back-to-back years. Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, arrives at East Lake with nine top-10s this season and an unmatched record here: three FedExCup titles and eight straight appearances. A fourth FedExCup would put him alone in the record books.
Other former FedExCup winners in the field include Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Viktor Hovland and Justin Rose. Rose is back for the first time since 2019, thanks to his FedEx St. Jude win earlier this month.
Who are the newcomers to the 2025 Tour Championship?
Seven players will tee it up at East Lake for the first time: J.J. Spaun (No. 3 in the FedExCup standings), Maverick McNealy, Ben Griffin, Andrew Novak, Harry Hall, Jacob Bridgeman and Chris Gotterup. Hall was the late drama, with a top-six at the BMW lifting him from No. 45 to No. 26, knocking Lucas Glover out of the field.

The contest should be intense, but the reward is simple: $10 million, a five-year PGA Tour exemption, and your name etched into history. Then we can think about Bethpage Black.
