The welterweight division of boxing is set for a massive shakeup this weekend. The much-awaited matchup between IBF and WBC champion Errol Spence Jr. and WBA titleholder Yordenis Ugas is finally happening at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas on Saturday.

Spence vs. Ugas to unify three boxing belts

The bout will unify three of four recognized boxing titles, with the winner expected to challenge WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

Spence was involved in a terrible car crash in 2019 but bounced back quickly, defeating Danny Garcia in December 2020.

He was slated to fight boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in 2021 but had to withdraw after sustaining a retinal tear in his left eye in practice. Ugas stepped in as his replacement and the Cuban successfully defended his World Boxing Association (super) welterweight belt against Pacquiao.

Spence has not had a fight since his 2020 victory over Garcia.

Spence slight favorite vs. Ugas

Spence and Ugas are considered to be fairly evenly matched, with approximately the same landing percentage for punches.

The American is slightly favored to win, with his almost-three-inch reach advantage and one-inch height advantage over Ugas expected to play a role in the outcome.
