Danielle Collins won her match on Friday in two sets: 6-2, 6-2. But things got complicated for the Americans after Sofia Kenin lost in straight sets to Marketa Vondrousova 6-1, 6-1. The place in semi-finals depended on who won the doubles match between the Czechs and the Americans. The Czechs wont 6-3, 7-5 and sent Team USA packing.

The USA team, who have won the tournament 18 times, would have faced Canada if they had beaten the Czechs on Friday, but they came up short despite a tough fight in Sevilla, Spain.
On Thursday, Sofia Kenin, playing in her first Billie Jean King Cup since 2020, won her match against Viktorija Golubic 6-3 6-7 (1-7) 7-5, while Danielle Collins won 7-6 (7-4) 6-1 against Celine Naef. Sloane Stephens and Taylor Townsend completed the sweep, winning 6-1 7-6 (7-3) against Jil Teichmann and Simona Walters. Switzerland’s title defense ended with back-to-back 3-0 losses.
