The Chilean flag on the Austin circuit? The curious similarity that confuses MotoGP fans
Although it looks very similar, the flag flying at the Circuit of the Americas is not Chilean.

From Friday, March 28, to Sunday, March 30, Austin will host the third race of the MotoGP World Championship with the Grand Prix of the Americas. This is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated moments of the year in MotoGP, as the Austin, Texas, circuit is one of the most recent additions to the competition and features a unique layout with a long uphill section.

Additionally, there is an interesting detail that has caught attention on social media: the circuit flies a flag that looks like Chile’s. This has caused confusion among motorsport fans, who wonder why the U.S. flag is not displayed at a track located in Texas.
It’s not the Chilean flag
Although they look very similar, the flag flying at the Austin circuit is not Chile’s. It is the Texas state flag, which differs from the Chilean flag in that the blue stripe runs the full height of the flag.

In Chile’s flag, there is a blue square with a white star in the upper left corner, a red stripe covering the lower half, and a white stripe in the remaining space. In contrast, Texas’s flag features a blue rectangle occupying the left side.
