UFC is coming to the White House. The South Lawn will hosting “UFC Freedom 250” on June 14, which just also happens to be President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday. Topping the bill is the lightweight title bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje in which the Georgian will be defending his belt.

Two title bouts at UFC Freedom 250

On the same card, Alex Pereira will attempt something no fighter in UFC history has ever done - win a third championship in a third weight class. He’ll face Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title, a matchup that has fans buzzing.

A temporary arena, capable of seating 4,3,00 will be set up on the South Lawn for the event with a number of illustrious, A-List guests expected to attend. President Trump has 1,000 to hand out - among those who have received an invitation are film director/comedian Adam Sandler, Tom Brady and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

The remaining tickets will be destined to members of the US military. It is expected that around 1,200 servicemen and women will attend.

Slim and sleek

According to the Washington Post, any members of the military wishing to attend the event must first meet certain requirements.

Travel expenses won’t be included - active service members will have to organize their own journey to Washington D.C., and they will not be allowed to bring any family members or friends as guests.

The most unusual requirement concerns soldiers’ waistlines. A leaked memo states that attendees must meet “new, military body composition standards”. That means having a waist-to-height ratio of .55 - i.e. their waist size must be 55% or less of their height. “Recipients are required to meet Department of War (DOW) standards” the memo reads, CNN report.

It adds that reference will be given to officers who are “genuine UFC fans”.

UFC Freedom 250 will be shown live on giants screens just over the road from the White House in Ellipse Park which can accommodate a crowd of around 85,000. It will also be aired live on Paramount+ starting at 8 p.m. EDT.
