It’s not going to shock anyone that a sport like golf has a large group of Donald Trump supporters in its ranks.

Golf superstar Tiger Woods was involved in a car crash in Florida on March 27, 2026, US media reports citing local law enforcement said. There was no immediate word on Woods' condition following the incident in Jupiter Island, ABC television reported. NBC local news affiliate WPTV showed a picture of the crash scene showing a sports utility vehicle flipped onto its side. (Photo by Jim WATSON / AFP) / RESTRICTED TO EDITORIAL USE

Donald Trump publicly defends Tiger Woods after DUI: This is the list of other pro golfers with close ties to the president

Joseph McMahon

Born in Chicago, Joe played varsity football and baseball in Bowling Green, Ohio for BGHS and later played lacrosse at BGSU. A year abroad in Spain changed everything. As destiny would have it he ended up living in Zaragoza, running his own business, teaching Journalism at a private university then working as a SEO journalist for Diario AS.
Update:

On Friday, March 27, 2026, Tiger Woods was arrested for DUI after rolling a car again. It’s not the first time Tiger has been in a car accident with another serious crash back in 2021 and DUI charges in 2017 when officers discovered him asleep in the driver’s seat of his Mercedes-Benz. He had parked the car just a short distance from his Florida residence. The toxicology report revealed that Woods’ bloodstream contained five drugs at the time of his arrest. This time, President Trump has come out on Truth Social to ask Gov. Ron DeSantis to pardon Woods.

It’s no secret that Tiger Woods and Donald Trump have a close relationship as Woods is now practically part of the family.

Other golfers in the MAGAsphere

Annika Sorenstam

Sorenstam is close to the Trump family. In 2025 at her event, the ANNIKA, she thought it would be a good idea to invite a golfer ranked 461 in the American Junior Golf Association. Of course we’re talking about Trump’s 18-year-old grandaughter, Kai.

The LPGA Hall of Fame golfer Annika Sorentsam was awarded the Medal of Freedom by Trump in his first term. Sorenstam tried to downplay the timing of the ceremony in an interview with the Irish Times: “I’m not one to second-guess. It [the ceremony] was supposed to be in March 2020. Looking back at it, it’s really about the people who have received it through history. I don’t want to spend energy looking back. I want to spend energy looking forward, continuing to open doors and create opportunities for young girls around the world.”

Her husband, Mike McGee, shared his excitement on X after Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election and shows his support daily on X of the Trump Administration.

Charlie Hull

Annika isn’t the only LPGA star to be a Trump fan. English golfer Charley Hull hasn’t hid her admiration for the U.S. president either.

Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson DeChambeau has never hidden his admiration for Donald Trump. The two-time US Open winner has been seen on the course with No. 45 on several occasions and make a video with the former and soon-to-be president on his YouTube channel.

DeChambeau took the money and jumped ship when LIV Golf offered him a contract of somewhere around $100 million, paid for by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which has also financed Trump’s son-in-law’s private equity fund, Affinity Partners with a $2 billion investment.

Rory McIlory

In connection with the Saudi Arabian Investment Fund, Rory McIlory went on record in 2024 at the Dhabi HSBC Championship: “But obviously, Trump has a great relationship with Saudi Arabia. He’s got a great relationship with golf. He’s a lover of golf.” The Northern Irishman continued when asked about the PGA-LIV situation, “He’s got Elon Musk, who I think is the smartest man in the world, beside him. We might be able to do something if we can get Musk involved, too.”

As Eamon Lynch points out in his article, the World No.3 golfer could have taken a pass on the question, but he decided to be frank with reporters and let them know what he thought of Trump and his buddy Elon Musk.

We’re still waiting for news on the LIV - PGA agreement and Elon Musk might not be as smart as everyone thought he was.

Scottie Scheffler

Surprisingly enough, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has emerged recently as a fan of Donald Trump. He admitted to getting calls from the president after winning tournaments.

Phil Mickelson

Lefty has gone way righty recently or at least he wasn’t as public about his admiration for Trump in the past. It’s unclear how close the two are or if Mickelson just needs the president to help him with one of his investments as Pablo Torre has uncovered recently.

John Daly

It’s no surprise either that John Daly is a full-fledged Trump supporter. The two-time major winner spoke out on an Instagram story after Trump’s victory on Nov. 5: “Roll call… don’t miss your damn flight,” he wrote encouraging the celebrities who said they’d be leaving the US to do what they said they were going to. Daly had offered his support to Trump after the assassination attempt in July:

Gary Player

The South African golf legend, sent a congratulatory tweet on Elon Musk’s X to Trump after his 2024 victory. No surprise really that Player would be in the MAGAsphere.

The “Black Knight” had received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Donald Trump in January 2021, the day after the attack by Trump supporters on the Capitol Building.

Jack Nicklaus

The Golden Bear hasn’t held back when showing his admiration for Donald Trump. Before the 2020 election, which Trump lost to Joe Biden, the Greatest of All Time let down many fans and gave Trump his endorsement:
