During one of his trademark appearances at a military event, the businessman and US president took the opportunity to announce the chosen date: “On June 14 next year, we’ll have a big UFC fight at the White House.”

Many fans are skeptical about the date announced by Trump. June 14, 2026, falls on a Sunday – a highly unusual day for a UFC event, particularly one expected to take place in the afternoon, as most fights held on American soil do.

McGregor, Topuria and more contenders

Ever since the White House event was announced, a wave of fighters has volunteered to take part in what promises to be a historic card packed with the biggest names in MMA. Ilia Topuria even “bet” with fans that he would headline the show. Conor McGregor has said he’s already training to be at full strength by the date, while Jon Jones claimed that a fight at the White House might be enough to pull him out of retirement.
