Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk have agreed to fight

Promoter Bob Arum says both fighters have reached an agreement on fighting in the upcoming months.

Promoter Bob Arum says both fighters have reached an agreement on fighting in the upcoming months.

The megafight soup opera between Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) is offering boxing fans another interesting chapter before Christmas.

Some days ago, the WBA ordered the Ukrainian star to face British WBA heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois in a mandatory title defense.

However, things change quickly and boxing promoter Bob Arum said that the two champs could be fighting sooner than expected if he manages to have the deal done by the end of this year.

Bob Arum, “very confident”

Both Usyk and WBO interim heavyweight champion Joe Joyce were the best candidates to face Fury, as they entered the ring after The Gipsy King’s win over Derek Chisora earlier this month but Arum’s A Plan is to make the Usyk vs. Fury fight.

The two fighters have agreed to fight each other next (...) I’m very, very confident. As I said, the fighters have both agreed to fight each other next without any interim fights “, Arum said to Sky Sports.

With Fury and Usyk, we’re dealing with two adults, not a lot of back and forth. Usyk is a good friend of mine, he’s very intelligent, and Tyson is Superman, both as an athlete and as an intellect”, he added.

Arum added that the fight could take place in the UK, although they have received a couple of big offers from the Middle East to hold the super bout there.

The Gipsy King proved he’s in good shape by stopping Derek Chisora in the 10th round in a tune-up fight on December 3rd in London, while Usyk’s last fight was his split-decision win over Anthony Joshua in their rematch last August.
