The World Series of Poker is the biggest, most popular, and most prestigious poker tournament in the world, and thus, it attracts the biggest players.

The World Series of Poker has been staged in Las Vegas since 1970 when it had a single tournament, and it has grown to consist of 101 events. One thing has not changed, it still attracts the best-known players of the game.

Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth, also known as the “Poker Brat”, is a celebrated fixture at the WSOP, having won 16 bracelets, the biggest number of any player in the tournament’s history. He has been eliminated from the 2022 WSOP Main Event, but still made his mark via a dramatic entrance dressed as Darth Vader, making his way to his table to the tune of “The Imperial March”.

Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey is a highly ranked poker player in the world, with winnings estimated to have reached more than $32 million. He earned his first WSOP bracelet in 2000 and has gone on to win several others since then. He has made a fortune from the Aussie Millions Challenge, winning $3.5 million in 2014 and bagging the prize money again the following year.

Daniel Negreanu

Also known as “Kid Poker”, Daniel Negreanu has made his mark at the WSOP, being named Player of the Year and winning multiple bracelets. Global Poker Index declared him to be the player of the decade from 2004 to 2013, and Negreanu has also been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.

Brian Hastings

Brian Hastings is having a good run at the 2022 WSOP. He has just joined the six-timer club, which only has 17 members so far. He won his sixth bracelet at this year’s $10K 2-7 Triple Draw. Hastings won his first bracelet at the 2012 WSOP at the $10K Heads-up NL Championship.

Eli Elezra

Another player who’s having a fruitful WSOP performance this year is Eli Elezra, who just won his fifth gold bracelet and more than $600,000 in prize money. He is now part of an elite group of 31 players who have won at least five of these bracelets.

These are just some of the big names in poker who are playing at the tables in Las Vegas for WSOP, but there are also other famous faces in that crowd. Many celebrities are serious poker enthusiasts who have tried their hand (and their luck) at the World Series of Poker.
