For years, boxing was the main and popular fighting sport that fans wanted to watch before UFC started slowly taking over. When it comes to money however, the sport still stands strong, as boxers still make more money than UFC fighters. Let’s take a look at who won the most amount of money in one fight and how much did they win.

Who made the most money in one fight?

On average, boxers early in their careers can expect to make about $1,000 to $4,000 per fight, or from $5,000 to $10,000 per fight in the midrange. Average professional fighters can make between $22,000 and $51,370 a year, but those earnings can be reduced as they don’t include travel, health, training, and management expenses that the boxer himself usually covers.

Talking about big names in boxing, on the other hand, is a whole other story. There are a handful of professional and well-recognized boxers who earn enough to live just on fighting, and Floyd Mayweather stands high up on that list.

Mayweather still leading the charts

There’s a reason why Floyd Mayweather was once called Money.

Considered the greatest boxer of his era, Mayweather has won twelve world titles and the lineal championship in four different weight classes (twice in the welterweight division). He is the biggest draw ever in boxing, making $250,000,000 in his bout against Manny Pacquiao in 2015- the most anyone has ever won for a fight.

The second highest amount of money made by a boxer in a fight was also by Mayweather when he fought UFC star Conor McGregor in 2017. ‘Money’ earned $100,000,000 for that bout.

Mayweather retired with a massive professional record of 50-0, having fought against some of the strongest boxers of his generation.
