The Zurich Classic of New Orleans has a storied past, dating back to 1938. Originally known as the Crescent City Open, the tournament featured Englishman Harry Cooper as its inaugural champion.

Over the years, the event underwent several name changes due to sponsorship reasons. In 2005, it settled on the name Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Past winners include Ben Crenshaw, Davis Love III, Louisiana native David Toms, Vijay Singh, Nick Watney, Bubba Watson, Billy Horschel, Justin Rose, Ryan Palmer, and Jon Rahm.
