The top women’s golfers who automatically qualified for the 2023 Solheim Cup that will take place Sept. 22-24 at Finca Cortesin in Andalucia, Spain, are:

  • Lilia Vu, 25 - 3-time LPGA Tour winner in 2023 with two major titles
  • Nelly Korda, 25 - 8 career wins on the LPGA tour
  • Allisen Corpuz, 25 - Winner of the 2023 US Women’s Open at Pebble Beach
  • Megan Khang, 25 - She finished T9 at the 2023 Chevron Championship and T3 at the 2023 Women’s PGA Championship
  • Jennifer Kupcho, 26 - 3-time LPGA Tour winner
  • Danielle Kang, 30 - 6-time LPGA Tour winner
  • Andrea Lee, 25 - Played college golf at Stanford University, first Solheim Cup experience.
  • Lexi Thompson, 28 - Veteran with 11 wins on the LPGA Tour and five previous Solheim Cup appearances.
  • Rose Zhang, 20 - Joined the LPGA in 2023, first Solheim Cup appearance.

Who are Team USA Captain Stacy Lewis’ picks?

At the announcement press conference, Stacy Lewis picked three golfers to complete the 2023 Team USA Solheim Cup. They are:

  • Ally Ewing, 30 - T6 at the 2023 Women’s British Open with two previous Solheim Cup appearances.
  • Cheyenne Knight, 26 - T15 at the 2023 US Women’s Open. 2023 will be her debut at the Solheim Cup.
  • Angel Yin, 24 - T12 at the 2023 Chevron Cup and two previous Solheim Cup appearances.

US Team Captain Stacy Lewis had this to say about the three Captain’s picks: “These girls have all played their way on the team. It wasn’t too difficult for me. The three that I announced were on my list for a month.

Ally, I wanted a veteran voice, and she’s really solid and very consistent and can be paired up with anybody.”

“Angel, her play in majors caught my eye. Her play in Bermuda grass also caught my eye.”

“Cheyenne is also very consistent. It’s good to play more than anything.”

They will face the 12-player European squad in Spain the week before the Ryder Cup in Rome, Italy. Team Europe has already been announced, and Captain Suzann Pettersen will be looking to hold on to the trophy they won in 2019 in Scotland and 2021 in Toledo, Ohio.
