Exciting news from Golf Canada and RBC as they reveal the impressive player lineup for the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. The tournament will take place from June 6 to 11 at the beautiful Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Toronto, Ontario, and will feature a coveted purse of US$9 million.

2023 RBC Canadian Open field

Returning to Canada with an outstanding track record is two-time defending champion and world number 3 Rory McIlroy. He is determined to defend his title and make history by becoming the first player to win three consecutive Canadian Open titles. However, McIlroy will face stiff competition from international stars, including Matt Fitzpatrick, Sam Burns, Cameron Young, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, Sahith Theegala, and Justin Rose. The field will also include past Major champions, recent tournament victors, and talented Canadian players led by Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Svensson, Nick Taylor, Adam Hadwin, and Taylor Pendrith.

The final field is brimming with excellence, boasting six significant winners, including Rory McIlroy, who has clinched four major titles in his career. Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry, Webb Simpson, Jason Dufner, and the esteemed Mike Weir are joining him.

Oakdale Golf and Country Club

Oakdale Golf and Country Club will host the return of four past RBC Canadian Open champions, including Chez Reavie, Sean O’Hair, Brandt Snedeker, and Rory McIlroy, who clinched the title in 2022 and 2019.

One hundred fifty-six players will compete for the prestigious US$9 million purse in Toronto next week, marking the first-ever visit of the RBC Canadian Open to Oakdale Golf and Country Club. This storied 27-hole course, composed of the Thompson, Robinson, and Knudson layouts, is nestled near the heart of Toronto. The hybrid system spans an impressive 7,264 yards. It features a par of 72, incorporating nine holes designed by Canadian Golf Hall of Famer Robbie Robinson and complemented by another nine holes designed by fellow Hall of Stanley Thompson.

2023 RBC Canadian Open prediction

Cameron Smith has been among the most impressive golfers on this year’s PGA Tour. He came up victorious at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January and added a PLAYERS Championship title in early March to his list of accomplishments. With five top-ten finishes, he also secured a T3 at the Masters a few months ago. However, Smith’s chances of winning the RBC Canadian Open might have been better if he hadn’t faltered during the final round of the Memorial last week. Despite being tied for second at eight-under, he ended up with a disappointing T13 finish after shooting a 77 on Sunday. Nonetheless, he will strive to make up for it in the upcoming RBC Canadian Open.
