From their hopes and dreams, to their lowest moments, Netflix’s new golf centered docuseries is changing the way we see the game that is often viewed as the quiet one in the room, amongst elite professional sports. Yet, what we’d really like to know is why are so many of the sport’s top players, moving to one small little island off of the Florida coast, Jupiter Island? Let’s find out.

So what is ‘Full Swing’ all about?

Created by Box to Box and Vox Media Studios, ‘Full Swing’ is a new documentary series from Netflix, that follows the stories of a group of professional golfers across a grueling season of competition. Among the events featured are the PGA tour itself as well as all four of golf’s major championships: the Masters, PGA Championship, US Open and Open Championship - that’s never been done before. Aside from their respective journeys through the year, the series also takes aim at their personal lives. From their families and the homes they live in, to the emotional dramas that they deal with.

As for the golfers who are featured in the show, the series follows professional golfers Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Brooks Koepka, Scottie Scheffler, Ian Poulter, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Tony Finau, Matt Fitzpatrick, Sahith Theegala, Joel Dahmen, Mito Pereira and Cameron Young.

Why is Jupiter Island so special to golfers?

As mentioned above, the island of Jupiter takes center stage at various points in the series, which has left viewers wondering about the reasons why? Firstly, it should be noted that it’s not just the island alone, but the district of Jupiter itself, which is located in northern Palm Beach County, Florida, which has become somewhat of a Mecca for golfers. The reasons why, are quite simple actually. For starters, Florida as a whole boasts more golf courses at 1,250 than any other state in the entire country. Of those courses, 160 are located in Palm beach which has the most of any county in the United States, with 160. In short, with its agreeable weather year-round, the area offers golfers the opportunity to play on green courses throughout the year. Add to that, the coastal lifestyle and the elephant in the room - tax breaks - and you’ve got yourself a party worth going to.

Who are the Golfers currently living on Jupiter Island?

At present, there are more than 30 active members of the regular PGA Tour who call the area home and that’s saying nothing, of the countless men and women professionals who do as well. Where Jupiter Island is concerned, we do know that Tiger Woods currently lives there. Indeed, the 15-time major winner spent $38 million back in 2006 on a 13,700-square-foot home which today sits on a 10-acre plot that stretches from the Atlantic coast to the Intracoastal. Of course, Woods isn’t the only one to learn the secrets of the island. Phil Mickelson recently indicated plans to move to the island, while Rory McIlroy, Greg Norman, Brooks Koepka, Luke Donald, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Keegan Bradley and Rickie Fowler already do. In the wake of Netflix’s new series, we imagine that number will only climb.
