Who made the cut at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open? Round 3 tee times and pairings
On Friday at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Carl Yuan from China surprisingly performed and currently holds the lead position.
The latest round at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open saw Chinese golfer Carl Yuan winning on the lush greens of Oakdale Golf and Country Club. With an impressive score of -9 and 67 shots, Yuan’s outstanding performance placed him on the brink of achieving double-digit negative figures.
Yuan’s game began with a bang, securing two consecutive birdies in the opening holes. Though he faced a rough patch with two hits and equal errors, he ended the round on a high note with three birdies in the last four holes. This remarkable finish positioned him at an excellent nine under par, placing him ahead of his closest competitors.
Among those who trail Yuan’s impressive score are English golfer Aaron Rai (69 shots, -8), along with Tyrrell Hatton (64 shots, -8), Canadian Corey Conners (69 shots, -8), and Taiwanese CT Pan (66 shots, -8). Hatton staged an impressive comeback, moving from a position where he was vying for a place among the frontrunners to securing the second spot on the leaderboard. Hatton’s Friday performance showcased nine hits and a solitary error, firmly solidifying his position among the tournament’s top contenders.
CT Pan made a remarkable resurgence, significantly improving his performance from the previous day. His round consisted of a noteworthy eagle, six birdies, and a double bogey, ultimately earning him a place among the esteemed leaders of the day’s proceedings.
Joining those making notable strides is Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy (67 shots, -6), who overcame a sluggish start that initially had him languishing outside the top 37 positions. McIlroy delivered a flawless performance, carding an error-free round with five birdies.
“I felt like I putted pretty well (Thursday). But iron play was better, wedges were definitely better, got it in play a little more off the tee,” said McIlroy, who had never seen the course before the opening round. “So yeah, it was a better, more solid round.”
