As one of the PGA Tour’s designated events, there is no shortage of cash for the world’s top golfers to play for at the 2023 RBC Heritage. There’s an incredible $20 million purse to play for, with the man coming out on top on Sunday taking home a cool $3.6 million. No wonder recently-crowned Masters champion Jon Rahm decided to tee it up again immediately after, presumably, four nights of celebrating.

Which players are in contention to win in South Carolina?

After two rounds at Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina, you have to scroll down the leaderboard a little to find the Spaniard, who made his way back to the world number one spot after his exploits at Augusta. However, despite being tied for 18th on eight under par, would you bet against him making up the six shots to surprise halfway leader Jimmy Walker in rounds three and four?

The problem Rahm may face is the quality of some of the players between him and top of the leaderboard. World number two Scottie Scheffler is tied for second, three shots behind Walker, as are Ryder Cup regulars Justin Rose and Xander Schauffle. Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland and Patrick Cantlay are in the group of five players a further shot back, while three-time major winner Jordan Spieth is one ahead of Rahm on seven under.

44-year-old Walker, meanwhile, hasn’t won an event since coming out on top at Baltusrol at the 2016 PGA Championship, his only major win. In the meantime, he has suffered with Lyme disease and almost quit the game last year.

Who missed the cut?

At the other end of the spectrum, among those to have missed the cut are world number seven Max Homa, Full Swing star Joel Dahmen, who shot 66 in the first round and veterans Davis Love III and Stewart Cink, who have won the event five and three times respectively.
