Who made the cut at the 2023 US Open? What big names won’t be playing this weekend?

The second round has finished at the Los Angeles Country Club and some of the biggest names in golf did not make the cut.

With $20 million on the line, there is a fierce chase on at the top of the leaderboard for the 2023 US Open. Ricky Fowler is in the lead at ten under, but hot on his heels are Wyndham Clark, Xander Shauffele, and Rory McIlroy.

On the other end of the spectrum, however, sit some of the biggest names in golf. Finding themselves outside of the top 50, they have not made the cut and will not be playing tomorrow.

The players whose 2023 US Open has ended include Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, and Pablo Larrazábal.

The links have been unkind to these players over the last two days, with Mickelson suffering the indignity of being heckled by an unruly fan, who was later ejected. Spieth was caught by microphones venting his frustration while Rose had a superb second round but it wasn’t enough to claw his way back from a disastrous day one.

In a local fan interest story, of the three Mexican players who started the tournament, only Abraham Ancer remains in the competition. He finished his second round at two over, leaving him tied for 49th. His countrymen Carlos Ortiz and UCLA star player Omar Morales both finished up below the cut line and will be out of the Open.
