Will Jon Jones fight Tom Aspinall? What did UFC boss Dana White say?

The current heavyweight champion is expected to make his return to the octagon against Stipe Miocic at the end of the year.

After the much-anticipated return of Israel Adesanya, UFC fans are waiting to see Jon Jones back in action after having spent almost a year and a half out of the octagon.

Bones last defeated Cyril Gane in the opening round to become the heavyweight king and extend his dominance in the world’s biggest MMA company. The Rochester native submitted the French fighter by submission, with a guillotine choke in two minutes.

After his impressive win, considering it was the first fight for Jones in the heavyweight division, UFC boss Dana White announced he would fight the former category’s king Stipe Miocic. However, Jones got injured while training and the fight had to be canceled, as he needed surgery due to a torn pectoral tendon.

What did White say about a Jones vs Aspinall fight?

Many are wondering what Jones will do from now on. The MMA legend wants to return to take on Miocic in a fight he considers special, as the Cleveland-bred warrior is considered the best UFC heavyweight ever, and Jones is widely regarded as the best mixed martial artist of all time.

Jones teased retirement a few times once he fought Miocic, but it doesn’t seem to be the decision that fans and White want to hear.

The UFC president revealed that Jones is ready to fight interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall and that a potential fight is possible.

“So Jon is a very unique individual to deal with. Jon Jones will fight everybody. Jon Jones was absolutely — he wanted Francis Ngannou! You saw what happened with Ciryl Gane. He will tell you like he told us that he would do the same thing to Ngannou. He wanted that fight so bad”, he said.

“(...) Dislike him, whatever your beef is with Jon Jones, knock yourself out. There’s no way in hell that Jon Jones doesn’t want to fight Aspinall. That I guarantee you”, White stated.

The English fighter has repeatedly admitted he would love to face Jon Jones in the cage. He’s considered one of the best heavyweight fighters the organization has seen recently and many believe he could get Bones in trouble.
