Zverev joins exclusive 500 club with Canadian Masters triumph
After his victory over Matteo Arnaldi at the Canadian Masters, the German becomes the first player born in the 1990s to reach this historic milestone.

Alexander Zverev continues to make history in the world of tennis. With his victory over Matteo Arnaldi, the 27-year-old German reached 500 victories as a professional - becoming the first player born in the 90s to reach the figure.
The fastest to get to 500 wins
Zverev also becomes the seventh fastest tennis player to reach 500 wins in the 21st century, having achieved the feat in 712 matches, only surpassed by Rafa Nadal (500 wins in 605 matches), Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer(500 wins in 627 matches), Andy Murray (500 wins in 655 matches), Andy Roddick (500 wins in 657 matches) and Lleyton Hewitt (500 wins in 670 matches).

After his victory over Arnaldi, Zverev himself celebrated his career milestone - one which only 57 players have managed in the Open Era. “It’s a great achievement,” he told reporters. “Not many players have reached this milestone. I want another 500 to come, and hopefully some more. When you start your career, you want to play on the ATP Tour, you want to have a successful career and win as many matches as possible. I think 500 is a good mark, and I’m happy about that.”
And while we’re looking at the stats, Zverev becomes the third German tennis player to reach 500 victories on the ATP circuit after Boris Becker (713-214) and Tommy Haas (569-338) and becomes one of the five active tennis players who can boast these 500 victories - joining figures such as Novak Djokovic, Marin Cilic, Gael Monfils and Stan Wawrinka. A milestone to which Zverev yearns to add that Grand Slam title that still eludes him.
